Worksheet · Strategy Health Check
Surface the dissent, then commit
Choices that nobody argued against in the room get argued against in the corridor. This sheet brings each leader's strongest objection into one session, settles it and records the commitment. It builds the Competent step of the check:
Leadership defends the choices publicly and holds them through normal turbulence.
Before the session
Each leader writes, alone, the strongest case against the strategy. One page each. Nobody sees the others' pages before the session.
In the session
Take each objection in turn. Decide one of three things: change the strategy, accept the risk and watch it, or answer the objection with evidence.
| Leader | Strongest objection | Evidence behind it | Decision | Indicator to watch (if accepted as a risk) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. CFO | The services push needs capital we do not have | Three-year cash forecast | Accept and watch | Net debt to EBITDA each quarter |
After the session
Each leader states their support for the strategy to their own team, in person.
| Leader | Told their team | Date |
|---|---|---|
The rule for later
A choice is reopened when a watched indicator trips, or at the next scheduled strategy review. A bad month or a loud objection is noted and held for that review.
| Date | Pressure to reopen | Indicator tripped? | Reopened? |
|---|---|---|---|
Done when: each objection has a recorded decision, each leader has backed the strategy to their team, and the choices held for a quarter.
