Terms of use
This is a working draft awaiting legal review. The structure is settled; the exact wording is not.
The short version
The checks are free. Your report is yours to share. The grids and the words in them are ours and stay here. A report is a mirror held up to your own answers, not advice. Australian law applies.
Who we are
onestepright is a business of Revoir Pty Ltd, ABN 37 611 713 930, Sydney, Australia. When these terms say "we" or "us", that is who they mean. You can reach a person at contact@onestepright.com.
What these terms cover
They cover onestepright.com and everything on it: the reference pages, the calculators, the health checks, the reports we send you and any team or paid service we add later. Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site.
Our privacy notice at /privacy says what we collect and what we do with it. Our disclaimer at /disclaimer says what a report is and is not. Both are part of these terms.
Taking a check
- Answer for a business you know first hand. The checks only work if the answers are honest.
- Pick the sentence that describes what actually happens, not what the policy says. If you cannot tell, say so. That answer is never counted against you.
- We ask for your consent to anonymised, aggregated benchmarking at the start of every check. The wording you agreed to is versioned, and your record shows which version it was.
- We ask for your email at the end, to send you your report. Nothing is asked for before that.
- Do not put other people's personal information in a free-text answer. Write about the business, not about a named person.
Your report
Your report is delivered by a private link and as a one-page PDF. The link is unguessable and expires. Anyone who has the link can open the report, so share it as you would share the PDF.
You may share your own report freely. Forward it, print it, attach it to a board paper, put it in front of your bank. That licence covers your report as we produced it. It does not cover the grid behind it.
The "I need some help" button on the report is the only way a conversation with us starts. Nobody will contact you otherwise. If you press it, a person replies by email. If we refer you to an adviser, we tell you what we are paid.
Our content and copyright
© 2026 Revoir Pty Ltd trading as onestepright. All content on this site, including the stages-of-excellence grids, the cell wording, the recommendations and your results report, is copyright. You may share your own report freely. Reproducing the grids or content elsewhere requires written permission.
In practice that means you may:
- read the site, take the checks and use the calculators for your own business
- share your own report with anyone you choose
- quote a short passage from a reference page, with the source named and a link back
- link to any page
And you may not, without our written permission:
- copy a grid, a set of cells or a recommendations set, in whole or in substantial part, into another document, product, survey or tool
- scrape, crawl for extraction, or bulk-download the checks, the cells, the reports or the calculators, by hand or by machine
- work out the scoring, archetype or recommendation rules by repeated runs or by other means, or build a competing instrument from them
- run a check on behalf of a client, member or customer as a service, or under your own name. Talk to us instead. That is a licence, and it is on our list.
- remove or alter the copyright line or the version number on a report or a page
Search engines and AI assistants may read and cite the reference pages, and our robots file says so. That is a licence to read and to quote with attribution. It is not a licence to reproduce the grids or to train on the checks and reports, which the robots file keeps them out of.
"onestepright" is our name and the subject of a pending Australian trade mark application by Revoir Pty Ltd. "Stages of Excellence" is our name for the format, used as an unregistered trade mark. Do not use either in a way that suggests we endorse you or your work.
What we ask of you
- Do not try to get around any security control, guess a report link, or probe the site for weaknesses. If you find one, tell security@onestepright.com and we will thank you.
- Do not use automated tools to submit answers, create records or generate reports.
- Do not use the site for anything unlawful.
Not advice
A report describes where your own answers place your business on a grid of observable practices, and suggests general moves that follow from that. It is a self-assessment, not advice. We have not seen your business. Decisions about it are yours, and for a decision with money at stake you should take advice from someone who has. The disclaimer at /disclaimer says more, and it is part of these terms.
Changes to the checks and the site
The checks are versioned. When a grid changes, the version number changes, and your report records the version you answered. Older reports are not re-scored.
The site is free and we may change it, add checks, retire checks or take the site down for maintenance without notice. If we ever close a check for good, live report links stay open for a reasonable period and you can ask for your data first.
What we are responsible for
We take care with the site and with your data, and the privacy notice and the /security page say how. The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available at all times or free of error, and we do not promise any particular result from acting on a report.
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our liability, and to that extent only, we are not liable for loss that comes from a decision you took on the strength of a report, a benchmark or a calculator, and our total liability to you is limited to [re-supplying the service or A$100, whichever is greater]. [Lawyer to settle the cap and the carve-outs.]
Team and paid services
Everything on the site today is free. If we add team polls or paid tiers, their own terms will be added to this page before they go live, and the free checks will keep these terms.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of [New South Wales, Australia], and its courts have [non-exclusive] jurisdiction. If you use the site from another country, local consumer law may also give you rights, and nothing here takes those away.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, the version and date at the top change and, if you have a live report, we tell you by email. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new terms.
