About onestepright
onestepright is built from the archive of an Australian strategy consulting practice. It holds the diagnostics, the frameworks and the plain observations from more than 30 years of strategy consulting and over 1,000 engagements. We turned them into health checks a leadership team can take in ten minutes.
- More than 30 yearsof strategy consulting
- Over 1,000 engagementsacross the founders' careers
- Over 190 consulting engagementsrun by Andrew Wilson since 1999
For owners and leadership teams of established businesses, and the advisers who work with them. The questions are written for businesses of about A$50 million (US$35 million, £25 million) in revenue and up. A smaller firm can still take a check. Some rows will describe practices it does not need yet.
No email before your result. No sales call after it. No list. Delete on request.
What we believe
Most businesses sit one stage left of where they think they are. The honest sentence helps more than the flattering one. A grid of checkable sentences beats a slider. The next step right usually costs less than the strategy retreat.
Not sure which check fits? Take this one first. The report says which to take next.
Start the strategy checkWhy the check is free
The checks are free because the answers, anonymised and pooled, become the benchmark. That is what we are building. Nothing is sold to you at the end of a check. If you want help, the button on your report asks for it.
How the grids are written and tested
Every sentence in a grid describes something a consultant has seen in a business. The grids are built from more than 30 years of strategy consulting and over 1,000 engagements.
Before a grid goes live, real businesses are placed on it one practice at a time. Some come from past work, and some are listed companies read from their public record. Where the sentences do not separate them, the wording is rewritten.
We tested the fund check on 105 public buyouts, in an exploratory, AI-assisted retrospective test. It raised a warning on 43 of the 51 that later failed, and on 14 of the 54 that succeeded. The limits are on the method page: some answers rest on what the AI agents already knew, and the warning was tuned on these deals.
What we do with your data
We ask for as little as we can: a few facts about you and your business, and your answers. Those facts make the benchmarks mean something. Your report opens on screen, and we ask for an email only if you want a copy.
Your results are private to you. In a team poll with individual answers visible, the person who set it up sees each answer against level and function, never a name. Only anonymised figures go into benchmarks. A comparison appears once enough similar businesses have taken the check. You can delete your results at any time from your report link, or ask us for everything we hold.
What we don't do
We don't sell your answers. We don't add you to lists you did not ask for. We don't call. Help is a button on your report. Nothing happens unless you press it.
