Worksheet · Transformation Readiness Check
Put the programme in the CEO's diary
A programme the CEO attends when the diary allows is a side project. This sheet fixes the CEO's time and the reporting rhythm up to the board. It builds the Competent step of the check:
The CEO chairs the programme reviews personally and the board or owners hear progress every quarter.
Step 1. The rhythm
| Forum | How often | Chair | Who attends | What it decides | First date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Programme review | Weekly | CEO | Workstream leaders, programme lead | What is late or blocked, and who clears it | |
| Leadership team slot | Monthly | CEO | Leadership team | One workstream in depth; benefits against plan | |
| Board or owners | Quarterly | CEO presents | Board or owners | Progress, benefits, risks, asks |
Put every date for the next twelve months in the diary now.
Step 2. The CEO's week
| Slot | Day and time | Moved only for | Kept this week? |
|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Programme review | Monday 8.00 to 9.00 | A safety incident | |
| Programme review | |||
| Time to clear obstacles between reviews |
Step 3. The first board report, inside ninety days
| Section | What goes in it | Ready? |
|---|---|---|
| Target and progress | Benefits planned and delivered to date | |
| Workstreams | Status of each, with its leader | |
| Risks | The three that matter, each with an owner | |
| Asks | Decisions or support the board is asked for |
Month-to-month swings in benefits can mislead a board. Report the cumulative figure against plan.
Under 50 people: the owner or CEO chairs the weekly review in person. Report progress each quarter to the other owners, or to the board if there is one.
Done when: the CEO has chaired the weekly review in person, and the board or owners have had a progress report in the last quarter.
