Worksheet · Transformation Readiness Check
Ring the register in the first weeks
When months pass with nothing to point to, people decide the programme is not real. This sheet lists the controls to put in this month and two quick wins that will show in the accounts. It builds the Competent step of the check:
Spend gates, approval limits and hiring discipline were in place within weeks of launch, and the first savings showed in the accounts in the first quarter.
Step 1. Controls this month
| Control | Rule | Owner | In force by | Done |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Approval limits | e.g. Spend above $10k needs the CFO's signature | |||
| Spend gate | ||||
| Hiring | ||||
| Travel and events | ||||
| Contractors and consultants |
Step 2. Two quick wins
| Quick win | Owner | P&L line | Month it shows in the accounts | Amount ($k) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Charge freight on orders under the minimum size | Customer service manager | Freight income | Month 2 | 40 a month |
Pick wins you can deliver on the date you promise. A missed quick win does more harm than none.
Step 3. Tell people
When each quick win shows in the accounts, tell staff what changed and what it saved.
| Quick win | Showed in the accounts (month) | Staff told on | How |
|---|---|---|---|
Done when: the controls are written and in force, and at least one quick win shows in the first quarter's accounts.
