Worksheet · Transformation Readiness Check
Describe the end state before the number
A savings number says what the programme costs the business. It does not say what the business becomes. This sheet writes the end state, then tests each initiative against it. It builds the Competent step of the check:
A written end state describes how customers, operations and roles will differ, and some initiatives change how work is done rather than what it costs.
Step 1. Today and the end state
| Area | Today | When the programme is done | How we will see the difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Operations | Each branch holds its own stock | Two hubs hold stock; branches order daily | Branch stock days fall; next-day fill rate reported weekly |
| Customers: who we serve and what they get | |||
| Operations: how the work gets done | |||
| Roles: who decides and who does what | |||
| Systems and tools | |||
| Behaviours: how people act day to day |
Step 2. Test each initiative against it
| Initiative | Changes how work is done, or only what it costs? | Part of the end state it moves | Keep, reshape or drop |
|---|---|---|---|
Count the initiatives that change how work is done. If the count is zero, the programme is a cost programme with a bigger number.
Done when: the end state is written for customers, operations and roles, and at least one approved initiative changes how work is done.
