Worksheet · B2C: Consumer Pricing Health Check
Test your three best-selling combinations as bundles
Bundles priced by feel for a promotion often just discount the basket. This sheet finds what customers already buy together, prices three combinations against the à la carte total, and tests them for a quarter. It builds the Competent step of the check:
A standard set of bundles and add-ons is priced deliberately against the à la carte total, and their sales are measured.
Step 1. What customers buy together
From basket or order data, count the combinations that recur.
| # | Combination | Baskets a month containing it | À la carte total ($) | Margin on the items (%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ||||
| 2 | ||||
| 3 | ||||
| 4 | ||||
| 5 |
Step 2. Price three as bundles
| Bundle | À la carte total ($) | Margin sold separately ($) | Bundle price ($) | Saving shown to the customer | Margin at the bundle price ($) | Extra sales needed to keep margin dollars level (%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Flight, transfer and first night | 1,240 | 226 | 1,179 | Save $61 | 165 | +37% |
Step 3. Test for a quarter
Show the bundle in test stores, regions or a share of site visitors. Keep a matched control that sees only the separate items.
| Bundle | Test group | Control group | Weeks | Bundles sold | Basket margin, test | Basket margin, control |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Step 4. Decide
| Bundle | Keep, reprice or drop | Why |
|---|---|---|
Done when: a standard set of bundles is priced against the à la carte total, and bundle sales and margin are measured every month.
