Worksheet · B2C: Consumer Pricing Health Check
Build the weekly one-source view
When promotion flags, costs and competitor prices live in separate spreadsheets, every pricing question starts a data hunt. This sheet agrees one source for each field and builds one weekly view by product and channel. It builds the Competent step of the check:
One source shows price, units, margin and promo status by product and channel, weekly.
Step 1. Agree the source, field by field
| Field | Where it lives today | Agreed source | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price paid (after vouchers and discounts) | |||
| Shelf or list price | |||
| Units | |||
| Cost | |||
| Promotion flag and promotion ID | |||
| Channel (site, app, store, marketplace) | |||
| Store or region | |||
| Returns |
Step 2. Fix the defects that break the view
| Defect | Example | Fix | Owner | By |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Promotions not flagged online | Discount codes recorded as a lower price, with no flag | Carry the code ID into the sales record | Digital team | End of quarter |
Common ones: two product hierarchies, stores and site on different item codes, returns booked against the wrong week, costs updated quarterly while prices change weekly.
Step 3. The weekly view
| Product | Channel | Price paid | Shelf price | Units | Margin ($) | Margin (%) | On promotion? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Step 4. Test it
| Test | Pass? |
|---|---|
| Weekly sales match the ledger within 1% | |
| Every promoted sale carries a promotion flag | |
| The same product has one code in every channel | |
| Finance and trading use this view for their weekly reports |
Done when: one source shows price, units, margin and promotion status by product and channel every week, and finance and trading both use it.
