Worksheet · Operating Model Health Check
Look inside before you advertise
It prints on A4 with room to write.
People who stay where they started know one part of the business. This sheet checks the next two senior vacancies against people in other parts, and sets up a first secondment. It builds the Competent step of the check:
Moves between parts happen when a job needs them, not only when someone asks.
Step 1. The next two vacancies
| Role | Part of the business | Date it will be advertised | People elsewhere who could do it with support | Support they would need | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Operations manager, south | Southern sites | 1 August | Planner, head office; supervisor, north | Three months with the current manager | Interview both first |
If the answer in the fourth column is nobody, that is the finding. Go to step 2.
Step 2. A first secondment
| Person | From | To | Length | What they will learn | Role they return to |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Step 3. Count the moves
| Year | People who moved between parts of the business | Senior roles filled from another part |
|---|---|---|
| Last year | ||
| This year |
Done when: someone has moved between parts of the business this year, and the next senior vacancy was checked against internal people first.
