Worksheet · Operating Model Health Check
Name the people you could not run without
It prints on A4 with room to write.
Every business knows who it could not lose, and few write down a cover plan. This sheet names a cover for each senior role and moves what only one person knows into a system. It builds the Competent step of the check:
Every senior role has a named person who could cover it for a month, and the knowledge that matters sits in systems and documents, not in heads.
Step 1. The cover list
| Senior role | Person in it | Who covers for a month | Ready now, or what they need first |
|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Operations manager | Current holder | Site supervisor, north | A week shadowing the supplier calls |
Step 2. What only they know
| Person | What only they know | Where it will live (system, document, a second person) | Owner | By when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Start with the three people the business could least do without.
Step 3. Test it
| Person | Month away (holiday or planned leave) | Did the cover hold? | What was missing |
|---|---|---|---|
Done when: every senior role has a named cover for a month, and what only one person knew now sits in a system or document.
