Worksheet · KPIs and Incentives Health Check
Recognise specific work within a week
When the only feedback is the size of the bonus, the people who carried the year go unmentioned. This sheet asks each manager who they recognised and for what, then sets one rule. It builds the Competent step of the check:
Each manager can name the last three people they recognised and the specific work it was for.
Step 1. The test
Ask each manager to fill in three rows from memory.
| Manager | Person recognised | The work it was for | When | How (in public, in private) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e.g. Customer service manager | Rep, phone team | Found and fixed a pricing error on 40 accounts | Last week | Team meeting |
A manager who cannot name three has found the gap.
Step 2. The rule
Recognise specific work, in public, within a week. Tie it to an objective where you can.
Step 3. Schemes to keep or retire
| Scheme | Do staff take it seriously? | Keep or retire |
|---|---|---|
Under 50 people: name the last three people you thanked for specific work, and what it was. From now on, recognise specific work in public within a week, and tie it to an objective.
Done when: each manager can name the last three people they recognised and the work each was for.
